Thomas Clark and Abigail Everman ClarkSidney Ann Clark's Family Tree
|
| Three Clark brothers -- Daniel, William, and John -- came from Scotland in the early 1700's. They lived side-by-side in Hampshire (previously Augusta and later Hardy), West Virginia. Thomas is thought to be the son of Daniel. |

"The maiden name of the wife of John C. Terry was Sidney A. Clark. She was born March 24, 1858 on a farm near Limerick, Jackson County, Ohio. A daughter of David and Clara (Byron) Clark and granddaughter of Hiram and Sidney (Almira) Clark. Her great grandfather, Thomas Clark, was born in Virginia of early English1 ancestry. Coming to Ohio in the very first years of its settlement (Thomas Clark) purchased a tract of timbered land close to the present site of Limerick, and immediately began its improvement. All of that part of the country was then in its virgin wildness, bear, deer, wild turkey, and all other kinds of game native to that section being plentiful and roaming at will. He built a substantial long house in 1816 in the wilderness, making the nails used in its construction by hand and riving the boards that covered the roof. Clearing the greater portion of his land, he lived there until his death at the age of four score years. His wife whose maiden name was Sidney Van Scoy survived him, passing away at the venerable age of 88 years. Mrs. Sidney (Clark) Terry died Sept. 3, 1895, several years before the death of her husband...." 1 Subsequent research indicates that Thomas Clark was born in Scotland, not England.
